The Creation of a New Life Situation
I have been at Temple University for nearly one and a half semesters now and I'm sad to say that this past Friday was the first time I attended a party on campus. I'm also glad to say that I attended an on campus party. Better late than never. I called an old high school friend who is currently living on campus at Temple University early Friday evening to see if anything was going on. After he had invited me to come to a party I immediately searched for excuses why I should stay home. I was unable to get anyone I felt comfortable with to come with me and my car had been acting up. On top of all this the weather was bad and I didn't want to be stranded on the highway in bad weather. After a little coaxing from my old friend I decided to throw caution to the wind and brave my emotions. It was great to catch up with my friend and it was really cool to see how kids were living here at Temple. At the party we played beer pong and listened to music and talked about the good old days. It was really nice. I also had a great conversation with these two really cute girls and was able to walk away with one of their numbers. At the end of the night me and my high school friend's roommate Juan stayed up and made hamburgers, red beans, and rice. Juan is from Columbia and I got to learn quite a bit about him and his hometown. It was nice to make a new friend. Even though I had to jump start my car the next morning it was an experience I wouldn't soon trade in. It's also interesting to note that besides my cell phone I also used facebook and myspace to stay in touch with the new friends I made that night. If I'm lucky we may go out again this weekend. Could one of the cute females be a love interest? You'll just have to wait and find out.
Deconstruct The City Space
To deconstruct is to break apart. Demolition crews deconstruct buildings so that new ones can be built in their place. It is a word sometimes used when analyzing a subject or situation.
"The" is probably one of the most widely used words in the English language. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines the word "the" as a function word that is used to indicate that a following noun or noun equivalent is definite or has been previously specified by context or by circumstance. I try to avoid using the word "the" too much when I'm writing papers. It's too repetitive and unoriginal.
A city is the center of commerce and economics. It is a place in which people come to work. People also travel to the city for culture. Music and other art forms are often on display in cities. A city is a great place to get something to eat. There are many great restaurants in a city. A city is crowded. All cities have a history. A city is often noisy, smelly, and filled with smog. Most cities have ghettos or places where the people are poor and the buildings are run down. There are many homeless people in the city of Philadelphia. The city can be a violent place. Many people are murdered in cities. Most cities have schools, colleges, and universities. A city is a great place to learn. A city is a melting pot of many different cultures, nationalities, and creeds.
Space is the final frontier. Space can be outer or inner. Space can be a gap where nothing rests. Space can be owned. Space should be free. Space can be public or personal. Space can be asked for. Space can be given. Space can be purchased. Space can be sold. Space can be relaxing. Too much space can be sad.

T-Shirt For A Week
My classmates and I were instructed to document a week in our lives on a t-shirt. I decided to take Sharpie pens and have the most important people in my life draw whatever they pleased. The outcome was a very diverse design in which the entire shirt was covered from front to back. I was very pleased with my t-shirt and was proud to share it with my class. It was interesting to note the many similarities we all shared. All of us seemed to be quite busy with the pursuit of an education as a means of acquiring great wealth. Work and school were the basis of most the t-shirts in class. I found great inspiration in the words of my teacher David who instructed us to try and find happiness in every waking moment instead of planning it for our futures.

Pan's Labyrinth
I saw the movie Pan's Labyrinth this weekend. I found it to be very interesting. There was a good mix of fantasy and history. The special effects were remarkable; I was particularly fond of the Fawn. The Fawn was a mystical tree like creature who served as a guide to the main character. I was so captivated by the beauty of the Spanish language that I didn't mind reading subtitles the entire film. For me some of the key points were the loss of innocence that takes place as we grow older as well as our fading belief in magic. It must be confusing to young people how we encourage them to use their imaginations one minute and then scold them for acting naive and immature the next. Society has a harsh way of demanding conformity and practicality. In the story a Princess from the underworld becomes obsessed with the world of humans and gives up an existence free of pain and sorrow in order to walk the earth. Such a sacrifice seems foolish as the Princess is born into a time of violent revolution. It is the Princess's earthly mother who preaches that life is cruel and is in no way like the fairy tales in which the young Princess is so fond of. I wondered if this was a lesson the Princess had to learn the hard way. Could life be a test that would lead to great reward upon completion? Would this reward be granted to all who lived or only to those who lived justly?

Virgin Blogger
These ideas are not my own. Everything unique has perished. I've been told that inventors were once treated as celebrities. It must have been a grand time to live in. If inventors were modern day heroes then little kids would practice physics and engineering as opposed to jump shots and singing. I do not mean to sound bitter. I have learned to navigate quite well through this information age. I can do things like email and voicemail, IM and ITunes, Netscape and Netflix. What if the Matrix is real? Would we want to be wakened from our slumber or would we prefer to remain in a shadow land of illusion?
